A braking resistor is selected based on a number of variables including duty cycle, operating voltage, power
and temperature. In order to better assist you with your selection, a "product calculator" and an application guide
have been included on this page.

BS 101 & 102 |
Desription |
![]() |
Used in conjunction with a braking resistor, choppers are used to monitor DC voltage from an inverter. Once the inverter reaches a predetermined voltage, the chopper switches the breaking resistor into the circuit. The BS 101 & 102 are used in systems with voltage ratings from 440V to 760V with a maximum current of 32A. |
BW 101 |
Desription |
![]() |
The BW 101 is used for drives with frequency converters. Its construction is designed for panel mounting outside of the cabinet, reducing temperature and eliminating the need for a cooling fan. This series of braking resistors are used in systems rated for 180 to 2000W with a maximum operating voltage of 700V. |
BW 152 |
Desription |
![]() |
With a uniqely small footprint, the BW 152 is perfect for conditions requiring a minumum usage of space. In most cases, it can even be mounted under the drive, making it virtually invisible. This range can accomidate systems rated for 100 to 250W with a maximum voltage of 900V. |
BW 153 |
Desription |
![]() |
With a uniqely small footprint, the BW 153 is perfect for conditions requiring a minumum usage of space. In most cases, it can even be mounted under the drive, making it virtually invisible. This range can accomidate systems rated for 100 to 400W with a maximum voltage of 900V. |
BW 154 |
Desription |
![]() |
The BW 154 range is a very compact, high powered unit. Because it's offered in both "lying" and "standing" construction versions, this unit is highly versitile making it perfect for retro-fitting. This range can accomidate systems rated from 100 to 250W and with a maximum voltage of 900V. |
BW 155 |
Desription |
![]() |
The BW 155 range is a high powered braking resistor with a very small footprint. Although it can puchased without a cooling fan, it's presence doubles to unit's capacity. This series can be utilized in systems 1000 to 4000W with a maximum operating voltage of 900V. |
BW 155 Combination |
Desription |
![]() |
Used mainly for elevators and escalators, the BW 155 Combination range of braking resistor is designed to work with drives with high power frequency converters. This series can be used in systems rated for 5000W to 12000W of continuous power with a maximum operating voltage of 800V. |
BW 201 |
Desription |
![]() |
The BW 201 range is a book style braking resistor. It is used for driving motors, with a dynamic load, that is required to be stopped quickly such as lifts, cranes, or high speed mechanisms. This range is designed for inverters from 100 to 600W and has a maximum operating voltage of 580V. |
BW 301 & 303 |
Desription |
![]() |
With a chopper incorporated into the design, the BW 301 & 303 ranges are great for situations requiring quick installation and little room for additional electronics. These particular ranges can be used in applications of 44W to 450W with maximum opperating voltages of 395V for the BW 301 and 681V for the BW 303. |
BW 302 |
Desription |
![]() |
With a chopper incorporated into its design, the BW 302 range is great for situations requiring quick installation and little room for additional electronics. This particular range can be used in applications of 3000 to 7500W with a maximum opperating voltage of 763V. |
BW 401 |
Desription |
![]() |
With a uniqely small footprint, the BW 401 is perfect for conditions requiring a minumum usage of space. In most cases, it can even be mounted under the drive, making it virtually invisible. This range can accomidate systems rated for up to 180W with a maximum voltage of 400V. |
BW 402 |
Desription |
![]() |
With a uniqely small footprint, the BW 153 is perfect for conditions requiring a minumum usage of space. In most cases, it can even be mounted under the drive, making it virtually invisible. This range can accomidate systems rated from 100W to 600W with a maximum opperating voltage of 900V. |
BW 601-602 |
Desription |
![]() |
The BW 601 and 602 ranges of breaking resistor have very high load ratings and, because of their durable construction and high temperature wire, they are ieal for intense industrial conditions. These ranges can handle 1,000W to 30,000W of continuous power and have a maximum opperating voltage of 1000V. |
BW 603-604 |
Desription |
![]() |
The BW 603 and 604 ranges of breaking resistor have very high load ratings and, because of their durable construction and high temperature wire, they are ieal for intense industrial conditions. These ranges can handle 400W to 7500W of continuous power and have a maximum opperating voltage of 1000V. |
BW 605 |
Desription |
![]() |
The BW 605 range of braking resistors are used with driving motors with a daynamic load such as cranes or high-speed mechanisms. This particular range can be used in systems rated from 3000W to 7500W with a maximum opperating voltage of 1000V.

BW 701 |
Desription |
![]() |
The BW 701 series of braking resistors is designed for high power applications and is enclosed in an IP 20 enclosure. The active cooling mechanism makes it possible to get the same level of power from that of a larger braking resistor in half the space. The BW 701 range can accomidate systems rated from 1000W to 4000W of continuous power with a maximum operating voltage of 700V. |
