The first of a new generation of power supplies from REO that provides a neat solution to a problem frequently encountered by engineers who wish to test equipment for performance on world-wide mains supplies. The MF 6 generates a variable frequency and voltage output from a standard 230V, 50 Hz supply. This unit is also ideal for testing susceptibility to over and under voltage levels.
The unit provides an infinitely variable, isolated, voltage from 0 - 350V AC and a variable sinusoidal waveform with a frequency range of 30 -110 Hz. The voltage is selected by rotating a potentiometer and a touch panel is used to adjust the frequency in 0.1 Hz steps. The touch panel is also used for setting up other parameters such as a maximum voltage limit. The variable power supply is housed in a functional, desk-top, enclosure and has a 3 1/2 digit display for the frequency setting (which is also used for parameter adjustments). The setting-up is menu driven and selections are made by using up/down cursors and an Entry key. There are also two 3 1/2 digit panel meters that display effective voltage and current values. Alternatively, the unit can be controlled through an RS 232 interface.
