These units are easy to connect, in parallel to the equipment that has to be protected. Any rapid voltage increase is directed to ground, through banks of varistors. The unit also provides a certain amount of mains borne RFI attenuation and so in some cases an additional filter is not required. Indicator diodes are provided for voltage monitoring.
