Variable Resistors
Nearly all power resistors are based on standard designs but are wound and rated according to customers' requirements.
REO manufactures a comprehensive range of wire-wound power resistors. Two types of construction are used; rotary (otherwise known as potentiometers) and tubular (sometimes referred to as rheostats). Usually the resistors are adjusted by hand but REO can also produce motorised units with adjustable, cam-operated, microswitches for providing output signals, or for interlocking with other equipment. Resistors with stepped windings are also available.
Encapsulated Potentiometers
...........................................................................................
The R40 potentiometer can be supplied in a dust- proof housing. This has a transparent front cover with a scale to indicate the rotational position.

Motorised Potentiometers
..........................................................................................
REO can build virtually any type of motorised potentiometer, using a range of AC or DC motors. Any number of cam-operated microswitches and a other options such as a slipping clutch for manual override can be provided. There is also a range of control cards available, sutable for use with an analogue set point control signal.

Rotary Resistors (Potentiometers)
..........................................................................................
Rotary resistors are available for power ratings of up to 500 Watts. Several resistors can be connected in parallel to achieve higher power ratings, if required.
A number of options are available, including motor drives, cam-operated micro-switches, stepped windings and extended drive shafts.

Variable Tubular Resistors
...........................................................................................
For higher power ratings (greater than 500W) a tubular resistor, with a sliding contact is normally used. Tubes can be connected in parallel to give higher current ratings. Using this technique REO has built variable resistors up to 27kW rated capacity. Series connection can also be used for higher resistance values. |
