Variable Transformers

We manufacture a wide range of variable transformers (880 kVA is the biggest we have built up till now). Two methods of construction are used; toroidal and column, depending on the power rating required.
Output is virtually stepless and there is no sine wave distortion. Motorised adjustment is available for all models.

REOVAR DM3 - DN10 Variable Toroidal Transformers (3 phase)

...................................................................................

A range of three phase variable transformers providing up to 3 x 34A per phase on a 3 x 400V supply.

The transformers are assembled on a supporting structure made from mounting plates, spacers and stud tie bars. All wiring is brought out to DIN rail terminals for ease of connection. Aluminium angle supports are available for mounting the assembly onto a back panel.

These three phase units can be supplied with a straight spindle, or a bevel gear drive, or fully motorised, with cam-operated microswitches for adjusting end stop or intermediate signalling positions.

REOVAR DRRT Variable Column Transformers

.....................................................................................

For line currents of 34A and higher it becomes more practical to use a column transformer. These comprise a number of tubes wound with copper strip edgeways. Rollers brushes are moved across the face of the windings, through a worm drive. Many tubes can be connected in parallel to carry higher currents and using this technique it has been possible to build variable transformers rated for 3 x 500A.

The output is distortion free and can be adjusted under load conditions.

REOVAR EN7-EN10 Variable Toroidal Transformers (1 phase)

..................................................................................

Various sizes are available, from 18A to 34A (240 VAC). We also produce different versions for world-wide supply voltages.

A multiple slider brush is used to provide a large contact area with the output voltage track

The core is manufactured from electrical, grain-oriented steel to reduce losses. A collet locking nut is used to retain the spindle, which allows the shaft length to be adjusted or to protrude from the brush-side or the mounting-side of the transformer.

It is possible to produce an output voltage that is approximately 10% higher than the supply voltage and this option is available on request

REOVAR M3 - M12 Variable Toroidal Transformers (1phase)

....................................................................................

Various sizes are available, from 0.8A to 15A (240 VAC). We also produce different versions for world-wide supply voltages.

All transformers in this range are fully encapsualted for safety. They have a roller brush, providing good track contact and a long service life. The core is manufactured from electrical, grain-oriented steel to reduce losses. Single-Phase Motorised Variable Transformers

................................................................................

Motorised variable transformers are available with 230 VAC reversing motors (RRTMoK) or 180-220 VDC motors (RRTMoG). Limit switches are fitted as standard and additional, adjustable, cam-operated microswitches can be supplied on request. All wiring is brought out to a DIN rail terminal block for ease of connection. The mounting plates, spacers and locking studs are zinc plated. Various motor setting times are available.
