By using modern frequency converters, the drive technology becomes more and more energy efficient. Due to the frequency converters, these powerful controllers produce strong electrical noise on the motor cable that adversely affect the engine and other consumers.

To ensure reliable and durable operation of all drive components, the electrical noise must be reduced as far as possible. Basically, many different factors such as volage rise (dv / dt), fault and surge currents, EMC behavior, harmonics, etc. must be observed.

Since these physical effects often occur in combination, targeted and well-coordinated measurements additional components are important. For the most diverse applications REO always offers the best electronic, inductive and resistive components.

Line chokes, EMC filter, DC reactors, chokes or sinusoidal and dv / dt filters are just a few examples of products, by which REO guarantees a safe and trouble-free operation in drive technology.

    Three-phase mains filter (3 lines, single stage)

    Three-phase harmonic filter (400 V / 50/60 Hz)

    • Nominal Voltage: 400 V
    • Rated current: 25 - 600 A
    • Inductance of the choke: 0.2 - 2.9 mH

    The filter is designed for the reduction of the THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) when used with B12 rectifiers. The harmonic currents are extremely suppressed so that the THD is reduced to lower than 5% (for example in UPS-systems)

    Typical values of Total Harmonic Distortion with B12 rectifiers and use of transformers are between 12 and 13%. This complies with the EN 61000-3-4 and EN 61000-3-12 standards.

    If more severe conditions for the mains are defined, in addition to the transformer it is necessary to use REO-Harmonic-Filter type CNW 897. These filters are available in two different versions:

    • THD < 5%
    • THD < 10%

    The IP00 version is especially suitable for panel mounting and can be mounted to save space here. The CNW 897 helps to comply with international power quality standards IEEE 519 or EN 61000-3.

    Single-phase DC-link choke (1 lines)

    Power Noise Reduction - save energy costs. 

    The DC-link choke is used for smoothing the DC link current and to reduce mains harmonics in voltage source inverters.

    The typical combinations of rectifiers and capacitors strain the supply network significantly. For functional reasons, the current consumption of the power supply or the inverter is not sinusoidal but pulsed at the moment of maximum voltage. DC-link chokes reduce the harmonics and relieve the supply network similar to the mains choke. In addition, the DC-link choke attenuates charging current peak surges of the DC-link capacitors. By using a DC-link choke the supply network is less burdened with harmonic reactive power.

    Improvement of the efficiency of a converter (Power Factor Correction). Starting currents and current peak are attenuated up to 70%. Mains chokes help to comply with international power quality standards IEEE 519 or EN 61000-3-2.

    Water-cooled three-phase mains choke 8% Uk

    CNW MD 953

    Power Noise Reduction - save energy costs.  The water-cooled power / filter choke CNW MD 953 series has been specially developed for smoothing flows in regenerative converters. By efficiently cooling, the power losses are dissipated up to 80% by cooling and reduces heating of switching cabinets. The CNW MD 953 is also suitable for use as a filter choke in LCL filters.

    By using a mains choke the inverter electronics and DC-capacitors will be protected.

    Starting currents and current peaks are reduced up to 60%. Mains chokes help to comply with international power quality standards IEEE 519 or EN 61000-3-2.

    Sinusoidal output current - save costs and trouble-free operation.

    For particularly long cable lengths of > 100m between the inverter and motor the shielded cable for EMI suppression used can cause a capacitive coupling. A conventional motor choke cannot provide sufficient damping in such cases.

    The sinusoidal filter is a low pass from inductance and capacitance and has a very low resonance frequency. So, it is able to generate a largely sinusoidal current. The operation and the loss balance of the asynchronous motor behave like the normal mains operation. The typical motor noise with converter does not occur and a shielded cable to the motor can be dispensed. Losses and heating are greatly minimized, and the leakage current will be reduced. Longer motor cable lengths are possible. The motor insulation is protected, thus increasing the service life.

    The sinusoidal filter also attenuates the conducted interference in lower frequency range very good. The losses and the typical noise in the motor plate can be reduced.
